Robin Hood - in another pose...

 I modified a Triguard robin hood figure.. new pose on the right..

this now painted plus a couple more for the merry band..

Rebasing and Re-painting...

 Tidied up the non-combatants (civilians)...

Bases tarted up for these ones...

The ladies re-painted to represent Maid Marion (in green) and her servants (in blue); the old Westair medieval jester has had his base re-done.

Picked up off Ebay recently... nice and cheap... some more Vanguard medieval figures

a few extra merry men and some men-at-arms; plus duplicates of character figures.  I'll do some conversions on the duplicates to give me some different figures.

Tax me not.....

Robin Hood, Little John, Will Scarlet, Much the Miller, Friar Tuck & Sid the Scythe have set off to rob the tax collector...

In the village of Papplethorpe, the tax man with an escort has arrived to collect monies due..

Villagers remonstrate with the tax collector over the amount levied .....

Robin Hood and his men on their way to the village to 'intercept' the tax revenues ...

They split up and approach the village from different directions ....

Robin distracts a couple of guards and they give chase....

Little John, Sid the Scythe, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlet and Much the Miller make their move and attack the guards....

Robin tussles with the two soldiers who chased him ...

and beats them off, wounding one ...

In the village, the outlaws have all the soldier busy.. Much makes his way to the tax collector...

Robin cross words with a soldier again, while other moves to block his way back into the village..

The fighting continues in the village, Much is chasing the tax collector...

Robin beats off the soldier, wounding him and then runs round to deal with the next one ...

Much catches up with the tax collector...

While Much persuades the tax collector to part with the money, Little John comes to the aid of Friar Tuck...

Sid the Scythe holds back a soldier while Much and Friar Tuck move away with the money...

Robin is now back the village, the two soldiers who followed him are wounded and now moving rather slowly; Will Scarlet holds of another soldier... 

Robin shouts - "back to the green wood", and they move towards the edge of the village....

Robin helps out Sid the Scythe as the others keep the soldiers at bay....

As Much and Friar Tuck fun off down the road towards the forest with the loot, the soldiers make one last desparate charge which is held.... 

The soldiers out-matched, fall back to catch their breath; Robin bids them 'good day' before he turns and runs off....

 

Hoorah! for Robin Hood

Mind your manor ....

Two retinues about to clash - a little tussle over the ownership of the manorial estate of Doffwitz.

Hearing that Count Theobald was going to take position of the manor by force, Count Alaric gathered his retinue and reached the manor at Doffwitz; Count Theobald was not far away with his retinue moving towards the village.

Count Alaric and his retinue reach the manor ...

The village of Doffwitz....

Count Theobald and his retinue are crossing the river and also moving towards the village ....

Count Alaric sends his archers & slingers round the flanks and some lightly armed men down the road to the village...

Count Theobald's men reach the edge of the village ...

Count Alaric's men move into position ...

Count Theobald's men move into the village down the road and round to the left of the village...

The two sides clash on the road through the village

while Count Theobald's men move round the outskirts of the village

while the fight continues on the road ...

Count Theobald's men have crossed the hedge line, but some of Count Alaric's better armed men await them ...

The fighting on the road intensifies ...

Count Theobald's men rush forward trying to turn the flank....

but their advance is checked ....

Count Alaric's men have gained a slight advantage in the contest on the road

With the two Count Theobald's knights leading the attack down, plus a couple of others, the flank attack breaks up and remainder fall back .... 

Count Alaric's men win the fight for the road....

Count Theobald and remains of retinue beat a hasty retreat....

Count Alaric has asserted his control of the manor and demesne of Doffwitz.

Second retinue finished ...

 Completed the figures for the second retinue; numbers topped up with feudal level for archers and skirmishers...

have enough for a game now ... hhm what scenario ? something to ponder on.
